I held a Senior Environment Artist role while I worked on Twisted Metal for the PlayStation 3 at Eat Sleep Play. I had the opportunity to work on four of the gameplay levels. My tasks included modeling and texturing building assets, large base assets, and prop assets. Along with the modeling, I had to create several levels of LOD, collision and breaking apart the asset for the destruction physics. Additionally, I helped out with the fx department adding particles to the destructible assets. I was also responsible for lighting my assigned areas in the game. The lighting included a mixture of global illumination, interactive lights and baked lighting.
The level of interactive destruction we had achieved for this title is something I am still proud of to this day. The PS3 had quite a bit of limitation and the team pulled off a very smooth optimized gameplay experience.
