This project is based on the "ruins" concept by Ching Yeh. The piece is referenced above.
I am very happy to finally finish this project! I had started it a while ago. I squeezed in time here and there in between my full-time job to work on it. I had a lot of fun building the hard surface geometry for the robot. It was challenging to translate the sketch Ching Yeh had done to a 3D model. I had to pay extra attention to the arm joints and the neck to make it work in a 3D world. A lot of that was open to interpretation since the concept is a bit sketchy. I still wanted to keep the vibe of the original, but I ended up putting a little of my own twist on certain parts of the head and the wrist area to make it more manageable. The little environment was a lot of fun to work on. I used Maya's Mash tools to scatter the grass, moss, and leaves. They were extra touches that really added to the final image.
